Use the notepad

The notepad is somewhere to jot a thought down before it gets away. It has no title, no Save button and nothing to decide: open it, type, close it. Only you can see it.

Open the notepad

1. Press ⌘K on Mac, or Ctrl+K on Windows, to open the command palette.

2. Choose Notepad. It sits at the top of the palette under Pinned, so it's there before you type anything. You can also type "note" to find it.

3. Start typing. The cursor lands at the end of what you've already written.

4. Choose Back to return to the palette's list.

Write in it

The notepad saves as you type, including when you close the palette mid-sentence.

• Press / to add a heading, list, Task list or other block.
• Use the toolbar or the usual shortcuts for bold (⌘B or Ctrl+B), italic (⌘I or Ctrl+I) and underline (⌘U or Ctrl+U).

Take it out of the pinned list

The notepad is pinned for everyone to start with. If you'd rather it wasn't:

1. Open the command palette and highlight Notepad.

2. Press → to show its actions.

3. Choose Unpin.

You can still find it by typing "notepad". Pin it again the same way, choosing Pin.

Good to know

• There's one notepad per person, and it's the same in every organisation you belong to. Switching organisation doesn't change or clear it.
• Nobody else in your organisation can read your notepad, whatever their role.
• To keep things private, the notepad leaves out anything that points at other records or people: no @mentions, no images or file attachments, and no links to docs, tasks, projects, contacts or deals. When something's ready to share, move it into a doc or a task.
• The notepad doesn't count towards the 5 things you can pin in the palette.
